About

I created this blog originally because the format was good to keep track of my personal notes and research on my game project, Kōtiro. It’s morphed into my notes and thoughts on the process of game design in general, and covers all the topics relevant to games, including software, art, writing, research, and more. I hope it becomes a valuable resource for other indie game developers.

Note about the material on this site:

Because this site is meant to be my personal repository of notes, much of the information is lifted from around the web, and does not belong to me. Some of it is from wikipedia, some from other sources, but much of it is unattributed or under attributed.

The research is too extensive to go back through and try to sort out what came from where now that other people can view the material, but just know that it generally isn’t mine, so it’s not safe to take and reuse for anything serious, including, say, a term paper about Māori culture. Since mine is a work of fiction, I’m free to mix and match sources and massage facts. That has no place in academic writing!

That having been said, there is a substantial amount of material that is mine. I’d appreciate you not representing that portion as your work or selling it without my permission. It’s either provided as educational material or is to be used in my game.

Information wants to be free, so use it wisely, but don’t be a jerk 8)

  1. Check out http://www.kickstarter.com/ to get some funding, this kind of project could work really well there.

  2. Awesome to find a game designer/artist. Really admire your hardwork, research and savvy. Kotiro is looking GOOood. And thanx for sharing your processes.
