The banyan tree is something I really WANTED to be there, and I did a bunch of research and dug up a couple dubious instances of there being banyan-like trees in the north. I also planned to possibly include Hawaiki as a location, which is normally said to be north, somewhere in the Polynesian archipelago. I considered putting the trees there also.

But yeah, you&#039;re right, Banyan trees in NZ are a big stretch, haha.

If you are visualizing NZ in your head as having some kind of tropical aisan climate take note its actually more like the British isles. Think snowy mountains and great forests full of giant kauri trees. Suggestions of monkeys and tropical plants make me think you need to do a lot more research on the environment front.
