Akaaka-matua

Akaaka-matua is a lesser known child of Rangi and Papa (according to http://www.sacred-texts.com/pac/lww/lww3.htm). He is appointed with Ku-watawata to guard Taheke-roa.

Akaaka seems to be an obscure word that means “difficult to overcome”—it was used to describe the winds of the Heavens.

Matua means father, parent, or uncle, or maybe first, biggest, or most important.

So the name appears to mean “Father who is tough” roughly. No clue what he looks like or anything else associated with him.
